Butterfly Grunge

This weeks challenge at The Friday Mashup was to create a card using the sketch that's only 2 layers with a grunge element under the first layer.

I typically like to use both the mashup challenges when I do this blog challenge but unfortunately this time I wasn't able to. Truth is, I actually thought I had till after I completed my card and went back to link it... :( Oh well I suppose. So originally I thought the challenge was to complete a project with only 2 layers and a grunge element under the first layer. I knew I wanted to use my gorgeous grunge set but I couldn't figure out how to make the grunge element be under the first layer and still see it well enough to get the look I wanted. Then I remembered my window sheets and ta da!

A Gray & Silver Sketch

This weeks challenge at The Friday Mashup was to create a project using Basic Gray or Smokey Slate & Silver and the mashup was to add either heat or dry embossing.

I knew what stamp set I wanted to use but I was having a hard time with my layout. So, I peeked at the Mojo Monday sketch and used that.

I know my card doesn't follow the sketch exactly but I think it's close enough to count. Don't you?

A Blue Color Challenge

The stormy weather has had me kind of down. With weather like this, there really is nothing better than spending some time in my craft room. This week at Pals Paper Arts its a very blue color challenge. I think its was the perfect thing to get my out of my "funk". :)

I had my Endless Wishes stamp set sitting out from my blog hop card creation so I thought I would use that. After all, what better color than blue (besides glitter of course!) for snowflakes?

It's always disappointing to me when a picture just doesn't do a card justice. For some reason, I just couldn't get a good picture of this card, its so much nicer in person....oh well I guess.

All items used are Stampin' Up! products unless otherwise noted.

Stamps: Endless Wishes (136829)

Ink: Bermuda Bay (131171), Pool Party (126982), Soft Sky (131181), Basic Black (126980)

SUO Challenge #111 - Tag You're It!

I've been trying real hard to get back into regular blog challenges again. I've just taken way too much time away from my blog this last year. With buying our first house (with 10 acres) and having the horses at  home it sure can be time consuming. So, I'm pretty proud of myself for doing 2 challenges this week. I checked out the SUO Challenge and the theme was tags. I had purchased the tag topper punches a while ago and hadn't used them much so I thought this would be a great opportunity. As I was looking through my stamp sets I seen the From My Heart set. It is one of my all time favorites! I try not to use retired sets too often as I know how frustrating it can be to see a project you love and try to recreate it only to find out the items are no longer available. So I was thrilled that this set is still available (I don't get rid of my retired sets, just in case) ;)

So, without further ado, here's my tag project:

All items used are Stampin' Up! products unless otherwise noted.

Christmas Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stamp It Group Christmas Holiday Blog Hop. You are likely coming here from Mary Bush's blog. If you happened to just stumble across my blog, why not take a minute and start at the beginning of our blog hop to see all the great ideas and projects. I've added a list of all participants at the end of this post.

Well, I had planned on using my new Ornamental Pine stamp set for this project but it hasn't arrived yet :( That's ok though because I stumbled across my Endless Wishes set and actually ended up making multiple cards instead! How great is that?!?! It's funny how sometimes you can be completely stumped for an idea and other times they can just pour out. For me they tend to pour out all at once but never actually make it to a completed project. They tend to be a partial project here and a pile of supplies for an intended project there lol. I'll just share one for today and maybe spread the others out over the next week or so :)

I just love all the little words and phrases in this set. The font is just adorable. So, for my project, I thought a word tree would be perfect!

All items used are Stampin' Up! products unless otherwise noted.

Stamps: Endless Wishes (136829), Holiday Home {Star Stamp} (135095)

Ink: Mossy Meadow (133645), Hello Honey (133643)

Halloween Tag

Well, once again it's been ages since I've posted here. I have recently discovered the Tim Holtz distress product line. I know, I know, I'm way late to the game lol. I have had one or two ink pads for a while but never actually knew what they did. I had only bought them because I liked the color. Oh wow, am I in love with them now!! So, I've been doing a lot of google searching for projects and ideas and I stumbled upon the distress paints too. So... I have been visiting Tim's website a bit lately and noticed his 12 tags of 2014. I have only used the distress inks a very, VERY small amount and I have never, ever created a tag................ until now. So, here it is. My first ever attempt at a tag.

Being that I only had a very small handful of Tim's products, I had to improvise a bit. I used the Spiced Marmalade Distress Paint and brushed it on for the background of the tag. I then used some Frayed Burlap Distress Ink and the Bubbles Layering Stencil and added a few areas to the tag (I notice now that I should have added a few more areas as they don't show up too well, but oh well). I then used some black embossing paste and the Gothic stencil. I used my Cricut machine to cut out the pumpkin, spider and numbers and then I added some wink of stella glitter to the web and some silver pen to the spider to give it a little "pop" and then I sponges some Rusty Hinge Distress Ink on the cut out pumpkin for shading. Finally, I used a piece of black ribbon. So... one last secret.... I don't even own any tags!! I had to make my tag out of vanilla cardstock lol!! Needless to say, I've just placed a pretty good sized JoAnns order :-) Now I just need to figure out what to do with this tag.... Hopefully I used enough of Tim's products to be eligible to enter in the tag challenge. If not, that's ok. I still had fun making the tag and maybe by next time I will have a few more items I can use.

Beautiful Blooming Spring Window Card

Over at The Color Throwdown they had an amazing color combination that I thought would be perfect to use with my new Spellbinders window die.

I didn't have barely banana so I substituted for So Saffron and came up with this:

I used the Martha Stewart clay and added some So Saffron Ink Refill to make the yellow flowers. I added a few more drop to get the darker yellow look. For the butterfly, I stamped the image three times with the Black StaZOn and then used my aqua painter and Soft Sky ink to give them the hint of blue. I then used the liquid pearls to add some detail and dimensionals to add some height. I just absolutely love how this card turned out. Very spring like. :)

Confetti Scattered Embossing Birthday Card

Wow, once again time has gotten away from me. Its been a while since I entered a challenge so I started looking around for one that I thought would be great. To my surprise, I found 3 challenges that I could enter this card into. I got the color combination from this weeks ColorQ challenge:

I got the scattered embossing technique idea from this weeks Friday Mashup. I also thought the colors from ColorQ made this card eligible for the mashup as they seem very spring like to me. :)

Then last but not least is over at Just Add Ink there challenge was to just add layers. After completing this card I do believe it has plenty of layers. :)

So, here it is:

I thought the partial embossing, along with the color markers made the vellum look like confetti. Which goes perfect with a birthday card. :)
